The American Beech tree is in my top 5 of trees. This native tree has beautiful winter foliage. The leaves change to a bright copper color and last all winter long here. Driving around you can always spot the beech trees in the woods as they are pretty much the only trees still holding their foliage. The bark is smooth and the tree gives dense shade during the summer. The American Beech can be dug from the woods at a young age with ease. The European Beech is also a nice tree.
