Hydrangea arborescens x 'Annabelle' - Smooth Hydrangea

The Annabelle Hydrangea is one of the most popular smooth hydrangeas in the trade. This native shrub was the 1995 Georgia Gold Medal Winner. I planted this shrub in the spring from a 1 gallon container and it has quickly gotten 3 feet tall and this is its first bloom. A more mature plant will be covered in these heavy blooms and staking might be necessary. These flowers are excellent in arrangements and they also dry really well. Cut this plant back as you wood a perennial in the winter for optimal growth in the summer.
