
This hibiscus is a native to the southeast. Also called Rose Mallow or Swamp Rose it produces large 6-12 inch wide blooms and grows 3-5 feet tall. Other species can grow much taller. These perennials do best in full sun and prefer moist soil. They do not have to be planted in swampy areas to do well. The disco cultivars are some of the most popular due to large flowers on a smaller plant. Watch out for Japanese beetles.
