Ginkgo Biloba - Ginkgo or Maidenhair tree

This large tree is one of the oldest trees. Grown for over 150 million years it was at one time native to North America (currently considered native to China). The habit of this tree is very different from all the other trees. It grows slowly but eventually reaches 60-80 feet. Plant this tree for excellent yellow fall color. It is a true gymnosperm and it doesn't fruit until it's about 20 years old. Plant male trees to avoid odorous fruit.
Often sold in health food stores as a natural treatment.
