Aucuba is an evergreen shrub that does well in shady conditions. The dark green foliage and bright red berries of this variety makes it stand out in the winter. The 'Rozannie' variety reaches 3 feet tall but other varieties can reach 6-10 feet. The variegated aucuba is the most common in this area but I prefer the bold texture and darker green foliage. This is a slow growing plant but new growth roots easily in water. Native to Japan.
