Crocus tommasinianus - Crocus 'Ruby Giant'

This wonderful little bulb is always a great spring suprise. I have these mixed in with my dwarf daffodils and it is a beautiful compliment of color.
Crocus will spread and naturalize an area over time and this one is a fast one. The ruby-purple flowers are large and open up in the sun to show off a softer shade in the center.
This makes me think of my friend Donna because she is the queen of purple and I know she loves crocus.
There are several species of crocus but this one is native to Western Yugoslavia.
