Euphorbia characias - Mediterranean Spurge

This popular European native gives wonderful inflorescence in the spring. There are tons of greenish-yellow flowers held together above the foliage. This plant tends to reseed readily and can easily become a weed if not managed but the orignal plants usually decline or die so the offspring are usually welcome. I have seen this planted in Atlanta gardens where it was allowed to take off and spread and it was a beautiful sight in spring. The winter foliage is also very nice. Grows best in zones 6-8.
