These green onions are in my dad's backyard patch. He dug me up a few to bring home with me as they are ready for harvest. I do not enjoy them raw but I'll eat them cooked.
They probably originated from Central Asia and are thought to be effective against the common cold, heart disease, diabetes, oosteoporosis and other diseases.
Onions were used in Egyptian burials & traces have been found in the eye sockets of Ramesses IV. They believed that the strong smell would bring breath back into the dead.
Christopher Columbus brought them our way in 1493.
Plant in full sun and divide bulbs as needed.
