Hibiscus rosa-sinensis - Chinese Hibiscus

This tropical hibiscus is the state flower of Hawaii. These large, scentless, trumpet flowers come in red, yellow, orange, white, and shades of pink. You can also find cultivars with single or double flowers.
Native to East Asia it is evergreen in tropical places. Here in Atlanta in serves as an excellent container plant in the summer. It also performs well as an annual planted in the landscape. I have noticed several tree-formed hibiscus planted at entrance ways but I prefer it most in pots. Seems to bloom all summer if kept well fed.
