We found these bird foot violets on the roadside. They form colonies as they spread by rhizomes under ground. They are also spread by birds that eat their seeds. These are a beautiful shade of blue/purple and really liven up the roadside. This plant is also often used as a host plant for butterflies and when they hatch they will eat the leaves.
