This Star of Bethlehem was another suprise from the rescue dig I did in January. When I dug these plants they were barely peeking out of the soil and I thought they were crocus at first glance. The flowers tend to open in the late morning and close up before sunset. Star of Bethlehem is native to the Mediterranean and some believe it is referenced in the Bible as dove's dung (2 Kings 6:25). This small plant (once established) can tolerate drought conditions. Plant goes dormant soon after flowering.
