This sweetshrub is known for its fragrance. It has a fruity smell likened to pineapple, strawberry, and banana. The plant grows 6-9 feet tall and looks great planted in mass. The variety I have is called 'Athens.' More common varieties have reddish-brown flowers instead. Does great in part sun but can tolerate full sun. This native plant is one of my dad's favorites.
