Ixia - Wand Flower/Corn Lily

I planted this Ixia in the fall of 04 and this is my first bloom. Ixia has small corms that you plant 2-3 inches deep. The foliage reminds me of gladioli but a much smaller plant. Ixia is native to South Africa and does much better in warmer climates. Here it should be considered an annual but with winter protection can come back. The corms are inexpensive and you get a beautiful bloom (multiple colors available) to enjoy. I hope these come back even stronger next year!
