Crabapple is a tree mostly planted for it's beautiful blooms in the spring. These trees readily hybridize so there are countless varieties available in the trade. We had some wild crabapples growing near our pasture when I was a child and I was able to convince my brother to eat them - his face quickly drew up in disgust as he bit into the sour fruit. I think he's forgiven me by now.
