Mitchella repens - Partridge Berry

This native groundcover has dark green, shiny leaves that grows best in well drained soil. Small white flowers in the spring become eye-catching red berries in the summer & fall. I found this growing on the side of a mountain in McCaysville, GA over Labor Day weekend. It was thriving under hemlock & hardwoods. The foliage is very tight to the ground and I love the dark green leaves.
