Solidago canadensis - Goldenrod

This native perennial is often seen on the roadsides in bright yellow bloom in late summer. I think the flower still has interested even when faded this time of year. There are many cultivated varieties if you prefer a more compact plant. Often accused of causing hayfever but this plant is actually innocent (blame ragweed for your runny nose).
Thomas Edison had success when experimenting with goldenrod to produce rubber but his work wasn't complete before he died and was never continued.
State flower of Nebraska & Kentucky. Was once the state flower of Alabama.
