Agapanthus is a perennial with blue tubular flowers in the summer. It is native to South Africa and often used as a border or trim in landscapes. The foliage is dark green and lush with a thick grassy appearance. Agapanthus grows well in warm climates but may not survive the winters in North Georgia. I see them planted in Atlanta and some varieties are hardy enough to tolerate our winters. They do very well in zones 8-10. White varieties are also available but the blue is my favorite. Varieties that I often see available are 'Bressingham Blue', 'Headborne Hybrids', 'Alba (white)', & 'Peter Pan (dwarf variety)'
