The Southern Indica Azaleas are some of my favorites. They are big plants with bold leaves and large flowers. A mass of these will force anyone to stop and stare.
My best rule for planting azaleas is to pick a color and stick with it. Often times people plant many different colored azales in rows or mass together and the effect is very jumbled and confusing when in bloom. If all the plants are the same color your eye tends to focus and see the big picture. If staying with one color proves difficult then I suggest trying other colors in different areas or your landscape and perhaps with different bloom periods. I prefer all white in the front yard but maybe you want pink or purple in the backyard.
'George L. Taber' has bright orchid-pink flowers and grows 5-10' tall & wide. Tolerates sun & shade pretty well but best in part sun.
