Trillium

These native perennials are very sought after plants. They thrive well in shady spots in the woods but it can take up to 7 years for a seed grown plant to flower so many people tend to dig them instead. This makes it harder to reproduce the plants to sell since most people only like to buy plants that are in bloom. I stumbled upon a patch of these trilliums on the riverbanks of the Chattahoochee river last weekend.
Other varieties bloom in white.
