Cucumber sativus - Cucumber/Pickle

Cucumbers can be grown as a groundcover or a vine. It has tendrils that attach themselves to a trellis or structure for climbing. I didn’t realize I had this small cucumber because it was hidden under the large leaves. I noticed it when I lifted the foliage to water it yesterday. In a few more days it will be big enough to pick. Eaten raw the cucumber offers Vitamin C along with many other nutrients but when pickled the nutrients are often depleted.
The cucumber has been popular for at least 3000 years and is probably native to India.
