This beautiful white flower opens at night. This vine grows to 12 feet and will produce large bottle gourds. Gourds are in the cucumber/melon family and produce male & female flowers. The green fruit will ripen to a straw color. You can tell that it is ready to harvest when the stem turns brown.
These kind of gourds have large fruit and are most often dried and used for craft projects. Native Americans as well as other cultures have used the dried gourds for utensils, containers, & ornaments.
