These pole beans were planted a few weeks after Easter by seed and started producing good crops a week ago. I have a narrow garden area so to go veritcal was a good option for me and these bamboo canes that my dad and I cut a few months ago were perfect for them to climb up.
This plant produces nice white flowers before the bean pods are produced. I harvest when they are 4-5 inches long. I snap in half and then snap off the ends before I boil them.
Beans contain fiber as well as a lot of protein and folic acid.
Pole beans produce all summer long whereas bush beans produce a lot of beans in a short period of time.
